Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
